Telling our story liberates not only ourselves but also others.
My Testimony
I am an Overcomer
From Prisoner to Pastor
My Journey…Thus Far
I was born on March 21st, 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica and migrated to Canada at the age of six to reunite with my mom.
I remember being bullied and having challenges growing up in Toronto. I spoke differently, and I didn’t understand a lot about this new country. I ran from bullies and that is what led to my track career.
I became a successful track athlete in high school and was a part of the 4 x 400m Canadian record-breaking team from Central Technical School in 1982/1983. I was awarded a full scholarship to Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale.
After attending SIU for 2 years, I transferred to Pratt Junior College, where I competed and graduated with an associate’s degree in business and communications. After graduating, I started mentoring and coaching up-and-coming athletes for competition and preparing them for life beyond track.
Fast-forward from 1998 (when I made a decision to follow Christ) to 2017, I studied to become an ordained minister. In 2019, I was also ordained as a chaplain.
Watch the videos above to learn about my journey from track to prison to pastor. I hope it inspires you to push through obstacles and reach your goals.
I know now that sharing my testimony and story with audiences across North America liberates me as well as them.
Hearing how my talks have encouraged, inspired, and motivated others to fulfill their God given plan and purpose is what drives me to finish the race with grace.
I enjoy connecting, sharing, and encouraging others, whether in one-to-one or group settings. I am committed to helping whomever it is in my power to do so.
